Caring for Your Morgana

Each Morgana piece is handcrafted from natural materials — wood, metal, stones, wire, and ribbon — and like anything made by hand, it lasts longest when treated with a little intention. This guide is a quick reference for keeping your piece looking the way it did the day it arrived. For the story behind how these treasures are made, see our Made by Hand page.

Wood

  • Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust. Avoid soaking or submerging in water.
  • Keep away from prolonged direct sunlight and damp environments, which can warp or fade the grain.
  • If the finish ever feels dry, a light touch of natural wood oil (such as beeswax or mineral oil) on a soft cloth will revive it.

Metal

  • Remove before showering, swimming, or applying perfume, lotion, or hairspray — moisture and chemicals are the main causes of tarnish.
  • Polish gently with a soft jewellery cloth to restore shine. Avoid abrasive cleaners, which can scratch antiqued or oxidised finishes.
  • A little patina is part of the character of brass, bronze, and silver pieces, and reflects the metal's age and journey with you.

Natural Crystals (Amethyst, Quartz & Others)

  • Clean with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry immediately. Avoid harsh chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners, and salt water, which can dull or damage natural stones.
  • Protect crystals from sharp knocks and from prolonged direct sunlight — some stones, including amethyst, can fade over time when sun-exposed.
  • Store crystal jewellery separately from harder pieces to prevent chips and scratches.

Wire Wrap

  • Handle gently. Wire-wrapped settings are sculpted by hand and can bend if pulled, snagged, or dropped.
  • Avoid catching the wires on hair, knitwear, or bag linings — slip the piece on last when getting dressed.
  • Clean by wiping carefully around the wires with a soft dry cloth. Skip liquid dips, which can pool inside the wraps and tarnish the metal from within.

Fabric Ribbons

  • Spot clean only, using a barely damp cloth and the lightest touch — ribbons are decorative, not laundry-safe.
  • Keep ribbons away from oils, perfume, and open flame (including candles and incense embers).
  • If a ribbon creases, smooth it gently between your fingers or use a cool iron through a protective cloth. Never iron directly.

General Storage & Cleansing

Store your Morgana pieces somewhere dry and away from direct sun — a lined jewellery box, a soft pouch, or a dedicated altar shelf all work beautifully. Keep metal and crystal pieces separated so they don't scratch one another, and lay wands, antlers, and ribbon-tied pieces flat rather than hanging under their own weight.

Some collectors also like to cleanse their pieces — passing them through moonlight, candle or incense smoke, or sound from a bell or singing bowl. This is a personal, ritual practice rather than a maintenance requirement; do what feels right for you, and your Morgana piece will keep its quiet magic for a long time to come.
